Relocate, not exterminate bees!

June 10, 2019 by Audra Waddle Leave a Comment

Bees on Your Property

Bee swarm in a treeSurprise! There are bees on your property, and you probably were not considering becoming a beekeeper. Or maybe in the far off future, it might bee a fun hobby when you have more time on your hands. But, what do you do now? The answer is pure and simple – relocation. Those bees are a precious commodity! Please do not exterminate bees. They are the very best pollinators we have here on earth. They are responsible for one-third of the food we eat, the delicious honey we enjoy, and pure fascination! We have so much to learn from them.

So, where are the bees located on your property? Some locations require different urgencies than others. Are they far from your home hanging from a branch? (this is called a swarm) With swarms, if you give them 24 to 48 hours they typically move on, they are just passing by. They think you are special and wanted to say hi! LOL!

If the swarm is anywhere near your home. Meaning feet away I highly recommend relocation and not waiting out the 24 to 48 hours. Due to the proximity of your home and the bees, the gamble of the bees finding a crack or a small opening and deciding the wall or the eve of your home looks like a lovely new place to reside is not worth it. Call for relocation.

Bees in Your Home

bee hive in ceiling - do not exterminate beesBees living inside of your home is not a good situation to bee in. Many times homes need to be cut open to collect the bees and to clean out the honeycomb. Unfortunately, not all people are aware that relocation exists and hire an exterminator to take care of their bee invasion. This is a bummer for a few reasons. One these bees are so important to have in our ecosystem and two once the bees perish the “cooling system” yes the “cooling system” they create is gone. So in our lovely state of Arizona summers as we all know gets toasty. When the temperature rises the wax and honey melts! Gravity takes over and this sticky mess filled with now chemicals slides down the home sometimes between the walls and exits by the foundation or other times comes right through the drywall seams and into homes! Yes, a complete mess! This sticky situation attracts ants, roaches, and other unwanteds. I cannot emphasize enough how important bee relocation is. Not only for the continuing existence of bees and their contributions but for the well-being of your home!

But let’s go back to the “cooling system”. Fun fact, bees do their best to keep their home around 95°. When temperatures rise some worker bees stand at the entrance and flutter their wings, this creates a draft through the hive. Others go to collect water to add to the hive, this creates their very own evap system to lower the temp. It’s absolutely amazing!

Instead of exterminating bees, please contact me and ask if the bees are retrievable! Don’t hesitate to call. I have many tricks up my sleeve. This is my passion this is what I do. Let’s make a difference together!
